We warmly welcome all children and teens up to 17 years old to join you on a complimentary basis. Your little ones can relax in their own robe and slippers, and also find a special gift waiting on the bed. It’s one more reason to plan that getaway you’ve been thinking about.

With a range of activities on offer, there’s plenty to keep the kids entertained from morning till night. Whether it’s getting out in the fresh air on one of our scavenger hunts, burning off some energy in the pool, or curling up with a good book from our children’s collection to relax in your room—the choice is yours. Plus, we’ve introduced new menus for little ones in all of our restaurants, guaranteed to please even the fussiest of eaters.

Wander hand-in-hand through the charming cobbled streets to discover the town’s fascinating history, get up close to local sea life at St Andrews Aquarium, enjoy a family-friendly show at The Byre Theatre, explore the fun-filled attractions of Craigtoun Country Park, visit the Scottish Deer Centre to meet majestic native wildlife, or spend a peaceful afternoon strolling through the beautiful Botanic Gardens. There’s something to delight every member of the family, making memories that will last long after you’ve left.

 

 

St Andrews Activities

 

St Andrews is the perfect destination for families, providing lots of attractions and activities to explore. With an abundance of fresh air, families can immerse themselves in the culture and rich history of the area. From country parks that offer adventure playgrounds, pedal boats, and even a miniature railway, to the many beaches waiting to be explored, there is endless fun and adventure for children of all ages. These features make St Andrews the perfect place to create lasting memories.

Scavenger Hunt

Keep your little explorers entertained by letting them lead you on an adventure in and around the hotel. Just pick up a map from the front desk and head off on a mission to solve the clues together.

Splash time

Dive into some splash-filled fun in our fitness pool, where kids are welcome between 10am and 5pm. Just remember to book ahead before you grab the rubber rings, as these relaxed swimming sessions are sure to be popular.

Fussy foodies

To satisfy even the pickiest of little eaters, we’ve expanded our children’s menus at our family-friendly pubs Hams Hame and the Jigger Inn. Expect all the kids’ faves, plus plenty of healthy options to help them get their five a day.

Beach days

Our location on the Fife coast is perfect for autumn strolls and fresh sea air. With West Sands just on our doorstep, East Sands on the other side of town, plus Kingsbarns and Tentsmuir a short drive away, you’ll be spoiled for choice. These beautiful beaches are ideal for family walks — and a great place to bring along your furry friend too.

Castles and cathedrals

Explore the historic town of St Andrews with your family and discover the castle and cathedral ruins. Wander through fascinating ancient walls, learn about the town’s rich past, and enjoy beautiful views. It’s a fun and educational adventure that brings history to life for both kids and adults alike.

St Andrews Aquarium

Get up close to 120 species at our local aquarium, home not only to underwater life and penguins, but amazing animals you might not expect to see from marmosets to meerkats. Open seven days a week, it’s a must-do while you’re in town.

The Byre Theatre

From movies to magic shows, there’s something for everyone at St Andrews’ historic theatre which has been welcoming audiences since 1933. Visit the website to find out what’s on and book tickets.

Craigtoun Country Park

An epic outdoor playground for kids, big and small, Craigtoun is the perfect place for a fun-filled day out. There’s a boating pond, train rides, go-karts, zip lines and trampolines, plus acres of lawn to play and picnic on. Open 24/7, with no entry free.

Scottish Deer Centre

A unique wildlife park set in picturesque Fife countryside, home to many species of deer and other native animals such as wolves, lynx, and Scottish wildcats. Enjoy engaging ranger talks, feeding displays, indoor and outdoor play areas, and educational tours for all ages.

St Andrews Botanic Garden

Explore 18 acres of woodland walks, meadows, ponds and living laboratories in these beautiful botanic gardens located in the heart of town. Adult tickets, £6; Under 16s, free.

Putting green

Located on the green situated at the front of the hotel, our Putting Green is the ideal place for budding golfers to take their first swing. Just ask at the front desk for clubs and balls then enjoy a fun, friendly game. (Seasoned golfers: please note the word ‘friendly’).

The Balgove Course

Located just next to the hotel, The Balgove is the only nine-hole course in St Andrews, and the ideal choice for families, children and beginners. As friends of The Balgove, our golf services team can arrange your visit. Just let them know when you’d like to play and they’ll take care of the details. Adults from £8, kids from £3.

Driving Range

Want to get some practice in before you let the family on the course? Pay a visit to St Andrews Links Academy, where you can buy a token for the driving range and help budding golfers perfect their swing.

The Himalayas

St Andrews’ own version of crazy golf was laid out by Old Tom Morris himself. The undulating 18-hole putting green, located just next to the famous Old Course, promises fun family play for all ages. Adults, £4, under 16s, £2.

The R&A World Golf Museum

Situated opposite the famous Royal and Ancient Clubhouse, five minutes walk from the hotel, this fascinating museum explores the rich history of golf from its very beginnings up until the modern day. With kids’ activities and a family-friendly rooftop restaurant, it’s a great local spot for a day out. Adults from £16, under 16s, free.
