Old Course Hotel - Voted Scotland’s Best!
The five, red-star Old Course Hotel, Golf Resort and Spa in St Andrews is named ‘Scotland’s Best Hotel’ at the prestigious Scottish Entertainment & Hospitality Awards.
Now in its fifth year, the Awards have become the country’s largest hospitality event, aiming to reward the nation’s favourite hotels, bars and restaurants by opening up voting to all members of the Scottish public.
The resort is “absolutely thrilled” to have triumphed in what was a very tough category – topping the public vote in a category that included Auchrannie Resort, Carmeron House Hotel, The Balmoral and Lochside Hotel & Spa.
Stephen Carter OBE, General Manager at the five red-star resort, says: “Receiving awards is always a wonderful plaudit – and this is especially so when we were recognized and nominated alongside such esteemed company.” Stephen adds: “This award carries a very particular kudos because of the public’s involvement.”
The five finalists in the ‘best hotel’ category resulted from a public vote. A mystery inspector then visited all five to experience the hotels at first hand – from check in to departure – and judged each on exacting criteria matched against the customer experience.
Stephen concludes: “It is a real honour for this iconic hotel to be named as ‘Scotland’s Best’. I’d like to thank each and every associate at the hotel who has played their part in our success - as well as our guests who have taken the time and trouble to vote for us.”
The resort’s Hams Hame Pub & Grill in St Andrews was also shortlisted - for ‘Scotland’s Best Burger’. The pub and restaurant – beneath Hamilton Grand behind the Old Course’s 18th green - secured a worthy place in Scotland’s top ten.
