The Home of Scottish Cuisine comes to Taste of Edinburgh!

Guests at this year’s Taste of Edinburgh are being treated to a series of five star demonstrations from chefs at the Road Hole Restaurant at The Old Course Hotel in St Andrews.

The weekend in July (6th to 8th) sees sixteen of the very best Scottish restaurants create an unbeatable alfresco feast in The Meadows. Head Chef at The Road Hole Restaurant, Ross Marshall, will be joined by the Old Course Hotel's Food and Beverage Director and Master of Culinary Arts, Simon Whitley, as they demonstrate their award-winning culinary skills using "only the very best local and seasonal produce".

Ross explains: “It’s a great honour to be asked to demo at Taste, and very exciting as it comes hot on the heels of our re-launch of our Road Hole Restaurant." Ross adds: "Our fourth floor has always been an iconic destination enjoyed by the hotel's guests – but we have opened The Road Hole Restaurant to everyone, seven days a week with brand new lunch and dinner menus – dishes from which we will be showcasing for visitors to Taste."

The new concept, launched in May, has set the scene for the restaurant to become "The Home of Scottish Cuisine, in the Home of Golf". Simon explains why this is not just a slogan: "We are using ingredients sourced as close as possible to the resort – and we want our team to be able to speak with confidence and first hand experience about our provenance." Simon adds: "As customers, we all come to expect any ingredient to be readily available at any time of the year – and they can be. But there are cycles to food production to bring fruit, vegetables and livestock into the right season – and we want to ensure the best quality and, crucially, the best flavours are available for the benefit of our diners."

Head Chef, Ross, leads his skilled team from The Road Hole Restaurant's theatre-styled kitchen, so is no stranger to putting on a show. Ross – whose home town is Edinburgh, says he is really looking forward to Taste, saying: "I can't wait for us to provide a snapshot of what we have created in St Andrews for visitors to this year's Taste."

Ross will be on stage in the Country Kitchen at 7.30pm on Sunday 8th July. Taste guests can also find more information about the Ross, Road Hole Restaurant and the resort at The Old Course Hotel, Golf Resort and Spa stand which will be situated in the grounds of the festival from Friday 6th - Sunday 8th.
